The patented CyberDrive system is designed to overcome many of the roll problems experienced in welded tube mills.  With many years experience of tube production we established that the majority of the problems were caused by the dynamic variations in ‘Drive Points’ which take place on each driven roll in forming passes, fin passes, and calibration passes.

The first trials of the system were carried out in November 1990 and, following receipt of International Patents, more than 1500 CyberDrive couplings have subsequently been installed on a wide range of tube mills around the world.

CyberDrive couplings have been applied to tube mills producing tube as small as 20mm diameter with wall thickness of 0.5mm, and as large as 200mm diameter with 12mm wall thickness.  Line speeds up to 200 metres/minute are commonplace and, in every installation, product marking and roll pick-up has been reduced.

Each CyberDrive installation has shown many benefits.  A customer in Australia (shown on page 1) reported an immediate reduction in drive power of 50% together with a significant reduction in surface marking of the product.  This customer subsequently ordered a new mill and specified  CyberDrive couplings.

A customer in the U.S.A. (shown on page 1) ordered CyberDrive for one of their tube mills producing stainless steel exhaust pipe, and running dry (no coolant).  The benefits of CyberDrive became immediately apparent, showing reduced drive power, a significant improvement in weld stability and an improvement and far greater consistency in product quality. They were so delighted with this first installation that they placed an order to upgrade a further five tube mills with the CyberDrive system.

CyberDrive couplings have been fitted to tube mills in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.A.

There is no other mill drive system which automatically compensates for roll wear, incorrect roll design, and roll drive point variation.

                             NO operator input is required.

CyberDrive provides a simple and highly cost effective method of increasing efficiency, improving product quality, and reducing SCRAP.  CyberDrive can normally be fitted in a few hours by the customer’s own engineers.
